The Laity Arts Foundation was established to address special key areas that have a substantial impact on the lives of youth, teens and adults in the surrounding communities. Namely, consistent, quality-based artistic programming in which individuals can channel their collective energies into a constructive forum. A non-profit private organization founded in 1989, Laity began with the dreams of Jim and Delayna Goins. The husband and wife team made a conscious choice to utilize their expertise to serve the inner-city youth in the Los Angeles area through the development of a comprehensive summer theatre workshop. Always popular and fun-filled, the program eventually grew to also include adults, and became known as a company of professionals who served the community through artistic and educational means. Now a thriving arts foundation in the Antelope Valley, Laity continues to specialize in directive, meaningful instruction and confidence building through the performing arts and supplemental education. Teachers develop and refine social and cultural interactive skills and elevate artistic consciousness. The outcome is powerful: the student comes to realize their talent and is capable of comprehending their abilities while appreciating the achievements of others. Our goal since founding LAITY has been to give students of all ages and skill levels the chance to explore their creativity through the arts which, in turn, will affect other areas of their lives. Studies have shown time and time again that kids who study the arts at an early age do better in school, score higher on the SAT/ACT, and generally lead more successful lives. We make sure all of our instructors have a strong desire to teach others, and the knowledge and know-how to back it up. We realize that as a parent you have many choices in deciding where your kids will study, and we encourage you to take a look at our comparison checklist to see how we measure up against the competition. PRIVATE LESSONS At Laity, private, one-to-one lessons for students of all ages are at the heart of our program. We feel that this kind of personalized instruction gives students the best opportunity to learn an instrument at their own pace while letting our instructors tailor the lesson to each student's specific needs and abilities. We take great care to only hire the most qualified instructors in the field. Before being hired, background checks are run on all of our instructors to ensure your child's safety and well being. Many of our instructors have taught in public and private school systems as well as at the college level. In addition, all of our instructors are working artists with years of stage, film studio and touring experience. What this means is when your child takes lessons through Laity he or she will be assured of receiving the highest quality instruction available.
