1) What does Laity mean? |
| |
In the past few centuries the word has been used in relation to religious matters. The laity of a parish , or the laity of the church. This is not how it came to be for us. Call us sometime and we'll tell you the long story. But this is what it means in context with our company: The word "lay" derives from the Anglo-French lai (from Late Latin laicus, from the Greek λαϊκός, laikos, of the people, from λαός, laos, the people at large). So Laity actually means "The Peoples Institute of the Arts."

4) Can I reserve a class for my child? |
| |
Classes are first come first served. We recommend pre-registering for the class(es) you want in order to save a position. But your child must be in attendance the first day of instruction or the slot will go to someone else. |

5) Do you offer family discounts? |

10) Do I have to use your Autopay service to pay my child's tuition? |
| |
No. But it is strongly suggested that you do. Untimely payment of your child's tuition will result in he/she not being able to participate in class(es) or scheduled activities. In addition you will incur an additional late charge of $20 if payment isn't received by the 5th of the month. Tuition is due the 1st of each month. (Not mailed on the 1st, but in Laity's physical possession). Further we report to all credit bureaus when a payment is late. Using autopay actually helps your credit score when payments are posted as being paid in a timely manner. |

11) Why do you recommend other studios? Doesn't that kinda hurt your business? |
| |
No! Not at all. Laity isn't here to compete. We're here to train. Although Laity does provide dance, music, drama & art instruction we're not so self-absorbed to think we have the "best" method of teaching or the "best" classes. What we want is for the participants to thrive in the arts. If you can't find it here at Laity, you simply must search until you do. Hopefully we can help you in that quest. |

12) Are you associated with the former "AVPAC" Antelope Valley Performing Arts Conservatory? |
| |
No. We've had many people from both camps try and tell us the story of AVPAC. What went right, and what went wrong. Laity was created many years before AVPAC and has a long and rich history of service in the arts. We are in no way associated with nor have we ever been associated with the Antelope Valley Performing Arts Conservatory. We have no feeling on the events that took place, one way or the other. We took over the "space", not the business. Laity is a completely different entity with a completely different set of goals, standards and focus. |

13) Are recitals mandatory to participate at Laity? |
| |
No. The pressure to perform can turn an otherwise great student into a nervous wreck. However, it is important to stress the idea of completeness through performance. Not that the student will have mastered his/her art but that the piece with which they have practiced is ready to be seen, heard and appreciated by others. This promotes growth. |
